Wright, Erma

November 09, 1932 ~ August 11, 2024

IMG 2948WRIGHT, Erma Jean (nee Flood) – Age 91 of Petrolia, Erma Wright died peacefully at Bluewater Health-CEE Hospital on August 11, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) Wright. Mother to Robin (Wayne) Walker, Barb (Jim) Hyatt and Bonnie (Barry) Kershaw. Grandma to Wade, Leslie (Eric), Robbie (Sarah), Luke, Dale (Ashley), Alana (Ronnie) and Michael. Great Grandma to Marleigh and Collin. Predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Gladys Flood, infant brother George, sister Uta and brother-in-law Charles Phillips. Survived by sister-in-law Annette Feltham, along with numerous nephews and nieces. At a young age, it was obvious Erma was an animal lover. After becoming a mother of 3 daughters, she raised Bouvier de Flanders and competed in local dog shows. In 1970, the family moved from Harrow to Oil Springs to start a hobby farm. There were always lots of animals with her favorite being the horses. She was a member of the Mooretown Rough Riders and loved going on trail rides. Erma considered herself quite the rancher. In her senior years, she became an avid golfer with her husband, Bob. They were long-time members of the Oil Springs Golf Course. During their snowbird days in Florida, they enjoyed meeting golfers from all over at many different courses. Erma joined the Red Hat Society and truly enjoyed coordinating local events. You could always find her decked out in style, showing off her fashion sense of red and purple attire. One of her favorite summer pastimes was frequently spending time at the beach while visiting family at their lake house.  A sincere thank-you to the Lambton Meadowview Villa and Petrolia CEE Palliative Care staff for your compassionate care. In lieu of flowers Sympathy may be expressed through donations to C.E.E. Hospital Foundation or New Life Assembly Church.  A private family graveside service will take place at a later date.

Deepest sympathy to the Wright family, who were our next door neighbours in Harrow so many years ago- I remember the bouviers that your mom bred, specifically wearing your dad’s underwear when they were in heat! 10. Condolences to Erma’s family.
Erma was a wonderful Red Hat lady, putting on Red Hat events at Oil Springs Golf Course for 10 years. She was a member of 1. Eureka Red Hat /Red Hat Society ( world-wide) , and 2. Eureka Jewels /Crown Jewels (Canadian ).
She attended many red hat events across S/W Ontario with me. Erma told me about husband Robert , ,daughters and their husbands, including her Irish son-in-law. She was so proud of you all. Wow, all her animals. Erma was so good remembering telephone numbers. How she loved her “Edge” van with all its electronics that she mastered. We knew she disliked sandwiches and potatoes ,but how she loved her desserts. Sometimes she ordered 2 desserts at Red Hat lunches.. I could go on and on with compliments , but I will stop here.
