June Alberta Stratton (Poland) – a resident of the Oaks Retirement Village in Wallaceburg, passed away at Chatham Kent Health Alliance on Friday June 1 with her daughter Diane and family by her side. Beloved wife of Ron Stratton, loving mother to Diane Syer (Doug) and stepmother to Danielle Quenneville (Luc). Proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Survived by daughter in law Miriam Gray, sister in law Isabelle Poland and family. She is also survived by many Stratton brothers in law and sisters in law and their families. Predeceased by her parents Albert Poland (1973), Loretta (South) (1999), sons Doug (1976), David (2006), brother Bryce (2010), and husband Harold Poole (1987). June was raised on the family farm near Brigden and enjoyed many years of volunteering with the Fair, Eastern Star and Moore Line Institute. She looked forward to spending the winter months down south where she could regularly shop the flea markets in order to spoil her grandchildren when she got back home. June loved parties but fell just short of celebrating her 87th birthday on June 3rd.
Funeral Details
There will be no visitation or funeral as per June’s request. Cremation has taken place and a private family internment at the Bear Creek Cemetery near Brigden will be held later on this summer.
