Ford, Marion

August 30, 1941 ~ November 19, 2024

Picture1FORD, Marion Irene – With tears and love, the family of Marion Ford would like to share her passing on November 19, 2024 at the age of 83, in Sarnia, Ontario. She and her husband, John Ford, formerly of Brigden, Ontario, celebrated 62 years of marriage on November 16.  When asked about the secret to a long and happy marriage, she just smiled.  It was meant to be their secret. Mom and dad made their first home in Brigden where they ran a trucking business and raised four children, Carol (Jeff Tanner), Bonnie (Joe Dawson), Vicki (Chris Cran) and John (Shannon).  While raising four kids, mom’s talents for sewing and quilting flourished, with matching outfits for the girls, and a handmade quilt on every bed.  Mom’s creativity with fabric continued when she and dad retired to the cottage in the Kawartha’s in 2005.  There, they welcomed friends, family and all their pets.  The cottage was a special place to make memories with their grandchildren, Alex (Kristen) Dawson, Andrew (Marissa) Dawson, Heather (Jake) Bourrie, Matthew and Claire Tanner, Ford, Georgia, Grace and Gillian Cran, Jarvis and Jasper Ford.  They were blessed to welcome two great granddaughters, Ellie and Gemma Dawson, with Baby Bourrie on the way. Marion is predeceased by her daughter, Mary Kathleen (1974), parents Stan and Alma Sheffer, sisters Shirley Cooper and Evelyn Japp, and brother-in-law Roy Cooper. She is survived by her brothers-in-law Rae Japp and Bob (Donna) Ford, and her much loved nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Rosewood Retirement Residence and the third-floor nursing staff at Bluewater Health.

I was so very sad to have learned of Marion’s passing. I have many fond memories of all of the times that our families spent together and all of the time that I spent at the house in having Bonnie as a childhood friend and as we navigated our teen years….sleep overs, pool parties, and more. Marion always seemed to be full of laughter and she was so welcoming.

My deepest condolences to you all. There are no words to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. May your fond memories help to bring you some sort of comfort.

    Sincerely,
    Cheri and Kevin Helps
