Jim Dawson PicDAWSON, James – Age 65 of Brigden, after a long and courageous battle, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his residence on Friday, March 28, 2025. His unwavering hope, throughout his fight, was inspiring to witness.Beloved husband of Carol (nee Baker) Dawson for 44 years. Loving father of Josh (Sara), Amy (Murray), Carrie (Cortney), Jody (Brett), Katie (Taylor) and Kristi (late Sean). He will be lovingly remembered by his many grandchildren Aliyah, Logan, Lyra, Peyton, Kenley, Hayden, Cedric, Evan, Sophia, Sandler, Gatlin, Gideon, Evander, Cole, Hendrik, Harlon, Meilah and Varrick. Dear brother of Anne (Derek), John (Tracy), Susan (Rob), David (Angela), Joe (Bonnie), Keith (Barb) and brother-in-law of Glenn (Jenny), Brian (Linda), and Bruce (Michelle).Son of Glen Dawson and the late Elizabeth Dawson and son-in-law of Ken and Anita Baker.

Jim was a lifetime farmer and had fond memories of taking 18 grandchildren for tractor rides and Kubota rides around the farms. He worked at Arlanxeo for 36 years as a process operator. Jim enjoyed going for a Sunday drive, going out for dinner and to hockey games.  He loved his family vacations to Florida and cheering for the Detroit Tigers.

Jim’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Oncology doctor and nurses at Bluewater Health and London Health Sciences Centre. Special thanks to Dr. Way, Doctor Lilly, and Dr. Yoshida and the rest of the palliative care team as well as the nursing staff of the VON.

Family and friends will be received at STEADMAN BROTHERS FUNERAL CHAPELS, Brigden on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 4-7pm.

A private family funeral graveside service will be held at Bear Creek Cemetery.

Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health – Oncology Department or the Baker Centre for Pancreatic Cancer.

    I am so heartbroken to hear of Jim’s passing. He was such a kind person and always made me feel welcomed as Katie’s friend when I’d come for visits. His love for his family was always apparent, I can remember feeling the love while watching Katie share a father-daughter dance at her wedding to You Are My Sunshine by Johnny Cash and how proud Jim looked.
