Clysdale, Joanne

April 24, 1935 ~ August 3, 2024

Picture1CLYSDALE, Joanne Isabelle (nee Marsh) – Age 89 of Mooretown, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Bluewater Health, C.E.E. Site, Petrolia. Beloved wife of Earle Clysdale for 69 years. Loving mother of Pat Clysdale-Cornell (Kim), Marie Farquharson (late Bill), Sharon Nicol (Ed), Dianne Sing (John), Helen ClysDale (Brian), Brenda Clysdale-Eyre (Ralph). Cherished grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of 15. Survived by three sisters-in-law Sheila, Muriel and Noreen Marsh as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Earl and Lillian (nee Watson) Marsh, brother Arthur Marsh and grandson Jesse Nicol.
Joanne lived a life full of love and friendship. One of her biggest joys was serving her community and enjoying many close friendships, always happiest when the calendar was full. Her ability to spread her kindness, understanding, and patience to all she knew and loved extended into her passion for music. Joanne started teaching piano at age 13, and continued for more than 75 years– teaching right up until just a few weeks ago. She opened the world of piano and music to hundreds of people, whether it was through the lessons she taught, being the choir director and organist at the church, singing at various functions, or enjoying a good dance. She was especially proud of teaching music to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joanne also enjoyed travelling the world over with Earle at her side, this too being a love she has instilled in all the members of her family.

Family and friends will be received at STEADMAN BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, Brigden on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 11:00 am from the funeral home. Interment to follow at Moore Union Cemetery.

Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Sixth Line United Church or C.E.E. Hospital Foundation (www.ceehf.ca).

  32. Earle & Family – So sorry for your loss of Joanne. I took piano lessons from her for quite a few years as did many others in the Birkhall community. In later years, always nice to see both of you at functions in the area. Last time I saw you was at the Brigden Fair roast beef dinner in March. Had a nice visit with Joanne that night! Remember all the good times. God Bless to you and your family.

  33. My sincere sympathy to the Clydesdale family in the loss of Wife, mother and grandmother. A great lady will
    Be missed

  35. The Clysdale family is in my thoughts and prayers. I always enjoyed my interactions with Joanne. In my early years, it was piano lessons right before exams, because when you lived with your piano teacher, sometimes you needed an outside influence!!! Later on I thought it was wonderful Earle & Joanne had a full social calendar — it meant that one would often run into them, and a lovely visit would ensue. Her absence will certainly leave a void in many lives, but what a life she lived!!!
    Sincerely,
    Elaine (Trapp) Montgomery

  36. I send my sincere condolences to all. Joanne and I had a neighbourhood connection as well as many musical connections. I will miss running into her at various social functions and our occasional phone chats to catch up on each other’s family news. She will be missed.
    Sincerely, Joyce Trapp

  37. Earl and family;

    I was saddened to hear of Joanne’s passing. I remember her very fondly trying to stop Debbie Marsh and I from giggling during church choir, playing the piano and the organ at church. One of my fondest memories was of doing “The Twelve Days of Christmas” with the signs that we all held up for the Christmas play-poor Joanne trying to organize us all-like herding cats. She gave us the gift of music-even if some of us were not all that talented.
    My family and the Clysdale family had a lot of involvement over the years. I learned to ride a bike at their place.

    Joanne will be sorely missed by everyone whose life she touched. Cherish the memories, it helps through hard times.
    Thinking of all of you, Beth Leaper
