Sheppard, Marie

March 29, 1935 ~ January 11, 2025

4587950500886336130SHEPPARD, Effie “Marie” – It is with deep sorrow the family of Marie Sheppard announce the sudden passing at her Queen Victoria Place condo, Petrolia, on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Leslie of 56 years in 2009. Marie was born to Henry (1985) and Effie (1984) (Harris) Thompson on March 29, 1935 in Dawn Township and was their only child. She married Leslie Sheppard on August 1, 1953. They farmed together and raised four children on the 8th line of Moore Township. Mom lived a full life. We marveled at what she could accomplish in a day – day after day!  She lived for her family and leaves them with a legacy of love, laughter, traditions, family recipes, quilts, family information, as well as many family gatherings to cherish.  We particularly remember how she absolutely loved farming including her hens and selling eggs from the back room; the mending, sewing and quilt making; and the years entering and working as a member of the Brigden Fair ladies division. Mother of Edna (John) Kerrigan of Brooke-Alvinston; Marilyn (late Gordon – 2015) Byers of Calgary, AB; William (Bonnie) Sheppard of Olds, AB; Jim (Carrie) Sheppard of Brigden. Grandmother of Mark Kerrigan (Krystal Homan); Nicole (Ian) Stephens; Alisha Sheppard (Jay Baxter); Chad Sheppard (Nikki Vyvey); Caitlin Boyd (Chuck Randall); Cody Sheppard. Great Grandmother of Dyllan, Layla and Hudson; MacKenzie, Porter, (late Josiah – 2012) and Karder; Riley and Ryker; Gage, Grady, Gracyn and Gavyn; Adeleigha.  Also several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Marie is survived by her sister-in-law Vera Johnston (late Allan – 1995) and many cherished relatives.
