Memorial Photo 3THOMSON, Ann “Nancy” – With gratefulness for the gift of knowing and loving Nancy Thomson, the family shares that our loving Wife, Mother, Grandma and Great-Grandma passed away at Bluewater Health Petrolia surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the age of 90. Nancy was born in Dundee, Scotland February 24, 1933. Marrying the love of her life, William “Bill” Thomson in 1954, and enjoyed 69 years together. Loving mother of Fiona, Stuart (Nancy) and Doug (Margaret) Thomson. Cherished grandmother of Philip (Allison Brown) Thomson, Trevor Thomson, Liam Thomson, Kirsten (Q Barker) Thomson, Sarah (Kevin) Vanhartingsveldt, Rebecca (Mojtaba) Zamani, Anne (Hassan) Jan, Miriam (Ben Taylor) Thomson, Esther (Dave) Wiitteveen, Robert (Samantha) Thomson, Eric (Brooke Heyink) Thomson and 12 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of the late Mary (Eric) Coughlin, the late Robert (Rita) Buntin and George (Marie) Buntin. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Ann (nee MacLaren) and Robert Buntin. Nancy was a lifetime member of the Wilson Memorial General Hospital Auxiliary, Chair of Scholarship Committee and Volunteer at the Hospital Gift Shop in Marathon. She was also a member of the Seniors Club of Marathon. Nancy was an avid reader, loved music and enjoyed being by the water. Above all, Nancy’s greatest treasure was her family, and was known for her great hugs and encouraging words to family and friends alike.

Family and friends will be received at STEADMAN BROTHERS FUNERAL CHAPELS, Brigden on Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 1:30 until the time of the service at 3:30pm.

Interment will take place at Moore Union Cemetery, Mooretown at a later date.

  1. We were saddened to hear of Nancys passing. What a lovely write up in the Mercury. Our hearts and hugs go out to you Stuart and Family. She was so loving and kind. Dave has such fond memories of both her and Bill while growing up in Marathon. I always treasured seeing them both out shopping or just a quick hello from down the street. She was truly a shining spirit inside and out and we were lucky enough to be on the receiving end of those hugs. All our love and deepest respect..,They sent an angel to walk amongst us.   2. I am so sad to hear that you all lost your dear Nancy. She was such a treasure, her sweetness graced this earth. So kind, generous and fun. She and Bill were the best couple. You were so loved and you will be missed Nancy. My deepest sympathy to all of you.

  6. We remember Nancy as a happy, compassionate member of the Marathon Coffee Club. She was full of fun stories about the old family dog Candy, her work at the bank, the store she and Bill ran in Southern Ontario, her love of horse racing and teaching her grandsons Trevor and Phillip to play poker.
    We loved sharing holiday dinners and celebrations with Nancy and Bill, and were honoured to be treated as family by the Thomson’s in Marathon.
    We celebrate Nancy’s life and mourn her loss. We hope the happy memories of who she was consoles her family at this time.
    As Nancy would do, we are sending big, heart felt hugs to Bill, Trevor, Phil, Allison, Fiona, Stuart, Nancy, Doug, Margaret and all the rest of Nancy’s grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and her family of friends.
    She will always be loved.
