ALEXANDERALEXANDER, William “Bill” James – Peacefully with his family by his side on July 19, 2019 at C.E.E Hospital-Continuing care, Petrolia, William James Alexander passed away at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Melba for 61 years. Loving father of Jim (Mary Ann) Alexander. Cherished grandfather of John, David and Gregory Alexander. Dear brother of Mary Armstrong and brother-in-law Norman (Charlene) Peters. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents William James (1993) and Alma Beatrice (1968) Alexander, brother-in-law’s Maxwell Armstrong, Clayton (Phyllis) Peters, and Maurice (Gwen) Peters. Bill was well-Known for his love of fiddle music, farming and hunting. He enjoyed playing for dances, anniversaries and various parties. In the summer months he enjoyed camping and jamming with his friends.

Visitation
Family and friends will be received on Monday, July 22, 2019 from 5 to 8 pm at STEADMAN BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, Brigden.

Funeral Details
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 1:00 pm from the funeral home. Graveside service will follow at Hillsdale Cemetery, Petrolia.

  2. Melba and Family, Please accept our humble condolence. Our hearts are sadden by the news of the loss of your beloved husband , dear father, grandfather ,and father-in-law. Bill was a very special person in our life and gave with his heart much joy to everyone. Whenever Gren and I were on the dance floor he always gave us a special wink and smile. Oh, how we miss those days. Sorry that we could not make it to the service, however Gren not doing that well so not able, and I am a little busy as you well know what that is all about. Do take time to have a big rest Melba. I remember how Bill lover to tease me. We are so proud to have had Bill in our life. God Bless.

  3. Melba Jim ..Mary Ann and boys… Billy was a great gentleman.. His talent for music won many hearts.. Including mine.. Today.. was a real tribute to our special friend.. You will live on.. in our hearts forever. We all know the saying”the apple doesn.t fall far from the tree”” Well Jimmy you are that apple!! Wasn.t hard to see how proud your Mom was today and your wife and sons.while you played beautiful music. When I came on the seen he treated me as an equal and was one of the fist ones to encourage to keep going. Not only a great fiddler, but a great person we will miss for the rest of our days.   13. I am very sorry to hear about Bill I respected him right to the end . A great man and a musician. I would have attended his visitation but have to Play a Show in Sarnia I very sorry. And the day of his funeral my little dog Holly has to have surgery. And I have to be with her I send my condolences to all the Family. He was the best fiddle player in southern Ontario. I will dedicate a fiddle tune to him tonight again so sorry I can’t make it tonight or tomorrow my prayers are with you Melba and Jim God Bless you both.

  23. Melba, Jim, Mary Ann and boys, another Brigden Icon has gone. Bill was well known and loved by so many. I am thankful for the time I was able to spend with him last summer when him and Jim were both patients in Sarnia.
